Sovereignty

Kaene's land was struck by a plague that affected the mind of his people. It was spreading, so the only thing he and his father could do for their people was beg for a way to colonize the sea, which meant finding a way to live underwater.
But even that wasn't the end, because they soon found that the land beneath the sea, to every extent, was claimed by the mer-people. Their leaders, including Prince Lorien, were not willing to share. (so mean)
