Hello DA! i have something for you guys, this is something I really wanted to do for awhile because, while I loved The Swan Princess movie (by NEST) I also really liked the swan lake anime from 1981. My favorite character was Odile, especially in this version because she was sassy and had HELLA LONG BLUE HAIR. So naturally when I watched the swan princess movie, I was disappointed in the lacking of an actual Odile character at all.
So this is what I'm doing for myself in the past, merging the two movies together in one fanart of the two ladies. Odile from Swan Lake remade to fit with the Swan Princess movie. eeeee! And of course her hair became the water from swan lake...hehehe. Also she's a sorceress....who can turn into an owl..how awesome is that?
Anyway, I hope there are some of you out there who feel the way I do.
Another thing: Siegfried wasn't toooo great of a guy in Swan lake but he was....far better than Derek...IMHO Does anyone know why they even changed his name for the Swan Princess? Weird...
Also, in case you noticed something off in the costume area…, Odette’s dress is a combination between her two dresses…that are almost exactly the same (of which there is no real explanation for the change in the movie….) And Odile’s dress is a combo between Odile’s jumper outfit from Swan Lake and the “fake odette’s” dress from Swan Princess

That's what I would've changed. I'm at a loss of words in why they changed Siegfried's name to Derek in the Swan Princess, nor had him and Odette growing up together
1. Rothbard took Odette hostage and transformed her and her maids into swans.
2. Derek/Siegfried never met Odette until the night when she transforms into a human
3. The good fairy, Bridget, warns Derek of the upcoming danger that Rothbard has in mind.
4. Rothbard's daughter, Odile, appears at the party and poses as Odette(due to their similar features except for her long black hair). Derek accidentally professes his love for her, just to discover too late Bridget's warning and Odette being brokenhearted.
5. As the maids tries to comfort Odette, Derek visits her to apologize. She doesn't forgive him easily and points out that he broke his promise to love her always chooses to die in the lake.
6. Rothbard confronts Derek and reminds him of the promise he made to Odile. He chooses to join Odette in the lake and both die.
7. Rothbard dies upon his spell being broken and the maids resume their human forms
